Plant of the Day
Friday 18 May 2018
A striking plant combination greets visitors at the entrance to the Cambridge Botanic Garden glasshouse range, with pink flowered Stylidium graminifolium (trigger plant) and the pale green pitchers of Sarracenia alata var. alata (pale pitcher plant). The Stylidium has flowers triggered by pollinating insects so that when an insect probes the flower it has pollen deposited onto the head or back and then flies off to pollinate another flower.
